9.00 am to 3.00 pm Morning Tea 10.30 am to 10.50 am. Lunch 12.30 pm to 1.30 pm.
If a pupil is to be absent from school please use the link on this site's homepage, phone the school office or send a note with another child. Where practical, the school will follow up unexplained absences by phone. The Wanganui Truancy Service may be used to solve prolonged unexplained absences.
This voluntary donation is set by the Board of Trustees each year. There is a reduction if paid before the end of Term 1.
Such monies are used to offset costs such as photocopying, sports equipment / uniforms and items not provided by the school operational grant.
A copy of all the school policies are available for you to read in the school office.
School uniform is compulsory at Churton School and this can be purchased from The Warehouse.
PAYMENT OF MONEY: Payment of money for such things as productions, orders etc. is to be handed in to the classroom teacher. Sausage Sizzle money goes to Mr Lane in the Library before school.
Stationery packs are available through the school office at the beginning of the school year. Further stationery when required is available from the school office.
SCHOLASTIC NZ LTD:
Twice a term pupils are offered an opportunity to purchase through Scholastic Books NZ Book club. Such sales enable us to choose further books for our Library.
WHAT PUPILS MAY WEAR OR BRING TO SCHOOL:
We ask that pupils do not bring toys, pocket money or jewellery to school as these items may encourage theft. Pupils may only wear studs in their ears and a wrist watch. Nail polish is discouraged and clothing should adequately cover the pupil's body. Pupils are also discouraged from having their hair coloured.
The hall is available to people in the community to hire for approved functions. Bookings, rates and conditions can be requested from the office.
Weekly assemblies are usually held each Friday at 2.30 pm and run for half an hour. Families and Friends of our School are most welcome to attend assembly especially if their child is to receive an award.
CHURTON SCHOOL POOL:
Keys may be hired by community families for use outside school hours on a season hireage basis. Keys can be hired from the school office.
PTA Meetings are held once a month and are advertised in the school newsletter.
Regular activities include; Sausage Sizzles, Lunch Programme, and various other fundraising activities.
Lunches may be ordered on a Friday. Orders to be placed in green box at Hall Door no later than 9.00 am. A list of food available is in the enrolment pack or you can pop into the office to pick one up.Child’s name, room number and order written on envelope with money enclosed. Please make cheques payable to Churton School P.T.A.
BOARD OF TRUSTEES:
Board of Trustees Meetings are held monthly on a Monday starting at 6.30pm and are advertised in the schools Newsletter. Everyone is welcome to attend these meetings.
Our Health Nurse visits fortnightly on a Thursday. Appointments may be made by phoning the school office.
CHURTON SCHOOL HOUSE SYSTEM
- Senior Leadership Roles.

- 4 houses; Rata, Miro, Tawa, Kowhai.
- House teacher for each house.
- Family grouping to promote family loyalty.
- House meetings Fridays 9.45 am.
- Merits awarded for school work, key competency, weekly value, good behaviour etc.
- Pupils work towards 1st, Bronze, Silver and Gold honours certificates.
- House points are given for House challenges.
